I recently came across Steve Harvey’s new book,”Act Like a Success Think Like a Success” (actually published in September 2014). I remember reading his first #1 New York Times bestseller, ” Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man” which was a really good guidance for those single ladies waiting to find their plus one. The book helps women to be successful in love by sorting out characteristics and criteria that really matter to them in finding their life time partner. I really like the book because it is practical and told from a man’s perspective giving its female readers a powerful insight on what this species is really thinking when they say something ๐Ÿ˜€

With the same funny yet firm style, Steve gives warm and insightful voice in simple and easy languageย on how to succeed in life by defining your gift, perfecting it and riding it to success. I really like the part where he says he wakes up every morning and spends his first 10 minutes just thanking God for every little thing in his life. He doesn’t even address his problems, he just keeps thanking and being grateful for his toothbrush, for the fact that he is up for a new day, etc. He stresses that when you are not thankful, it blocks the rest of your blessings from coming.

Now here’s the million dollar statement,”Why would God give you more stuff to be ungrateful for? So if you are having a rough time with what you have, why would He give you more??? If you wake up feeling miserable about your job, then why would He give you another job that you can go and be ungrateful for?”ย By hating our job, we must have blocked many blessings that may come with it, giving false impression to our superior and coworkers on our character would be one thing, demoralized attitude is another one. I am sure you can play along and mention the rest.

Today, I started my day just being thankful for the position that I am in and thank Him for all the good things to come and it got me to a great start. I am shooting for a great tomorrow. How about you?

  2. Ah. Too bad I’m reading this just now, otherwise I would search for the book at Gram*dia.
Saying Thanks to God wouldn’t do any harm for us, so why don’t we do it? Love the quote you put Mba.
Hopefully we can be more grateful of what we have.

  3. And I’m very grateful that God sent someone to write this post, to spread that we must be grateful in everything we’ve got. Thank you.
I couldn’t agree more, by being grateful, our steps in this life would be lighter, much lighter :)).
